It practically brought the Internet to India and has built up national capabilities in the area of net-working, especially in protocol software engineering. It has not only succeeded in building a large network that provides various facilities to the intellectual segment of Indian society--the research and education community, it has over the years become a trendsetter in the field of networking. UNDP has lauded ERNET as one of the most successful programmes it has funded. The Govt. of India has committed itself to further strengthen the project by including it in the 9th Plan with the allocation of funds and by creation of a new organisational set-up in the form of a Society. The Science community of the country has also recognized ERNET's contribution--both for infrastructure services as well as for R&D. The Scientific Advisory Committee to the Cabinet has adopted ERNET as the platform for launching an S&T network in the country.

The Technical personnel should have expertise and working knowledge/research experience in any one or more of the following domains: Computer Network Design and Architectures, Network Measurement & QoS, Protocol Engineering and Network Security Optical Networking, High-Speed Networks and Next Generation Networks. Planning of Network Resources, System Administration, Customer Support, Technology Evaluation and Preparation of Technical proposals. Development Experience in :

Job Profile: Ability to market various connectivity options offered by the Society to the prospective customers, sending proposals to new and existing customers for change of Plan, interfacing with clients for business promotion and publicity activities.
4. Number of vacancies indicated is provisional and may vary at the time of actual filling up of posts. ERNET India reserve the right not to fill up all the posts, if it so desires.
5. Selection: - Initial screening will be based on academic record and experience requirement wherever specified. Only short listed candidates shall be called for test and interview. No interim correspondence will be entertained.
6. The person selected will be eligible for medical facilities, lunch coupons, CPF etc. as per the Bye-Laws of ERNET India.
7. Interested candidates possessing the above qualifications and experience may apply in the prescribed format (Annexure-I). The applications must be supported by copies of certificates relating to educational and technical qualifications, date of birth, experience, category (SC/ST/OBC) & one recent passport size photograph, indicating the name of the post applied for on the envelope. 8. (i) Candidates applying for the post on direct recruitment basis and for all contract posts must enclose Demand Draft of Rs.500/- in favour of ERNET India, New Delhi alongwith the application. However, SC/ST candidates are exempted from fee.
(ii) For appointment on deputation basis (foreign service), the deputation would be governed by the terms and conditions contained in Department of Personnel and Training O.M. No. 2/29/91-Estt. (Pay II) dated 05.01.1994, as amended from time to time.
9. The candidate must ensure that he/she fulfils the educational qualification & experience criteria as on the date of publication of the advertisement.
10. The candidates who are already working in Central Govt./State Govt./ PSUs/Autonomous Bodies must submit their application through proper channel alongwith attested copies of ACR Dossiers for the last five years and Vigilance/Disciplinary clearance certificate.
11. Applications received after the due date, without ACR Dossier and Vigilance clearance will not be entertained. The Officer once selected shall not be allowed to withdraw his/her candidature at a later date.
