Vizag Information Technology Association announces Enterpreneurial Idea Contest 2011, i Tech Contest 2011
VITA announces its first iTech Contest to identify and recognize talented IT aspirants who are currently full-time students of Academic Institutions. The iTech Contest includes two different skills tests which should help students measure their skills against their peers – a Programming contest and an IT Knowledge contest. This will demonstrate the capabilities of the local human resources to the software community and the world.
Students with a desire for a career in software development are encouraged to participate. The contest will present tasks that should give them an idea of the challenges ahead. We anticipate a lot of interest in the outcome from potential employers.
Date: 17 December 2011
Time: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Fee: For VITA Academic Institute Members – FREE;
For non-members – `1000 for a team of up to 3 members (Programming Contest) & `1000 for a team of up to 3 members (IT Knowledge Contest)
Registration: Only the first 100 colleges who register on a first come first served basis will be allowed to participate. Registration deadline is 21 November 2011. Fee should be paid before 5 PM, 30 November 2011. Only colleges are allowed to register. Students cannot register directly. Participants: Academic Institutions can nominate students from any stream as long as the students are full-time students of the institution. However, Academic Institutions are encouraged to nominate students from the Computer Science, IT or Software Engineering streams. Programming Contest: This is for individual contestants. Each college can send up to 3 individual contestants. Contestants will be given a set of problems which they are expected to design, code, compile and execute. Coding can be done in any of 3 languages: C, Java, or PHP. Prizes will be awarded to the top programmers. IT Knowledge Contest: This is a team competition. Each college can send one team of up to 3 members. Teams will be tested on their knowledge of various aspects of Information Technology and prizes will be awarded to the top teams.
Academic Institution Competition: Based on the performance of the students they send to the competition, academic institutions will earn points. The institution that collects the maximum number of points will win the prize as the “BEST IT INSTITUTE.”

Entrepreneurial Idea Contest 2011
VITA announces its first Entrepreneurial Idea Contest to identify and recognize potential entrepreneurs who are currently full-time students of Academic Institutions. The Entrepreneurial Idea Contest will allow students to find out how business experts rate their ideas in this best business idea competition. This will demonstrate the innovative and creative capabilities of the local community to the world. Students with a desire to start their own company, either immediately after they finish their studies or after a few years, are encouraged to participate. The contest would help them think through their plans more thoroughly. Cash prizes of up to `50,000, `25,000 and `15,000 will be awarded for the first, second and third placed contestants respectively. A couple of companies are also interested in providing capital or other forms of support to any business ideas that show good promise.
Fee: FREE for all full-time students of recognized Academic Institutions
Entries: Only one entry per student or team. However, there is no limit to the number of entries from a college. If a student participates in a team, s/he may not participate individually or as a
member of any other team.
Registration: Registration deadline ends at 5 PM, 9 December 2011. Students can register directly but need to submit an identification letter from their college along with their entry.
Participants: Students should be studying full-time and can belong to any stream of study.
Areas: Students can submit business ideas for any sector of industry. Ideas that directly or indirectly use Information Technology are especially encouraged. Independent judges will be
considering the ideas on their merit. Innovation, creativity and viability are some of the
important criteria that ideas will be judged on.
