A.P state government thinking to reform Eamcet by spiting two universities to conduct separate engineering and medical entrance exams on different days from this year. At present, the engineering and medical entrance exams are jointly conducted under ‘Eamcet’ by one university on a single day in morning and afternoon sessions respectively. It proposes to hand over the responsibility of conducting the medical entrance test to NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, which regulates all the medical and dental colleges in the state. The proposals will be placed for approval before the Eamcet committee meeting to be held in the 1st week of December.

The state will finalize the schedule for various Common Entrance Tests for 2011 admission to professional courses (Eamcet 2011, Ecet2011, Icet2011, Edcet2011, Lawcet2011, PGECET2011 etc. in the last week of December. The government had already announced the schedule for Intermediate and SSC public exams, which will be held in March 2011.

Eamcet is being entrusted to JNTU-Hyderabad for nearly 10 years, the APSCHE has been scouting for another university this year as JNTU-Hyderabad has reportedly expressed its unwillingness to conduct Eamcet this year. Osmania University and Andhra University on the other hand, have been showing interest to conduct Eamcet this year.
