World's Most Luxurious Mobiles --Experience it

If you’ve got it flaunt it, that’s the way things have always been. And what better way to show off than having a super expensive or totally ‘bling-ed’ out mobile handset. With that in mind here are a designed to be items of status and not just usable technology. Owning these phones won’t necessarily put you on top of the world but you will be at the height of the A-List, where it counts.

Celsius X VI II Papillon
France’s luxury watch maker, Celsius X VI II is the genius behind this mechanical marvel. Papillon is French for Butterfly. The reason for the unique name is because this mobile uses a Remontage Papillon opening mechanism in the hinge. The handset is activated when opened, and uses tourbillion escapement mechanism for its built-in analogue clock.

The entire handset is powered by kinetic energy i.e. it’s operating solely through human energy. It’s constricted with 547 well crafted individual moving parts consisting of gears and other mechanisms. It’s classified as a smartphone to boot and although it’s not official the retail is said to be approximately $300,000.

Ulysses Nardin Chairman Phone
The next watchmaker turned mobile smartphone manufacturer is Ulysses Nardin. They released an Android running smartphone with a custom UI called the Chairman and it’s every bit as regal and elegant as their watches. This is not like a Vertu handset where looks mean everything and functionality takes the backseat. The Chairman is as sophisticated inside as it is outside.

It’s a 3g handset equipped with a large touchscreen and physical keypad, an 8 megapixel camera, a biometric fingerprint scanner for security, 32 GB of internal memory, GPS, hi-def video player and a Platform powered by the Freescale i.MX processor. This handset also features the Ulysse Nardin Rotor which is a kinetic power system. Now this is class for $49,500. Tag Heuer Lamborghini Limited Edition Meridiist
Yet another watch maker decided to showcase their mobile phone building talents and that’s Tag Heuer. They tied up with super-car maker Lamborghin and announced a limited edition Meridiist mobile phone. Like the Vertu Ascent Ti Ferreri Nero this edition of the Meridiist also bears a resemblance to the Lamborghini Murciélago. Only 1963 device were made as tribute to the year Lamborghini was started. The back of the device is engraved with its limited edition number while the keyboard is customized with Lamborghini’s trademark Taurus bull on the steel central button. Other features include a Sapphire crystal scratch resistant display, a 316L stainless steel body (corrosion resistant) with a hand brushed, polished finishing with black PVD titanium coating and premium alligator, leather or rubber for certain parts of the body.

It’s not considered to be smartphone but it’s not like connoisseurs would let that little detail bother them. A secondary OLED screen on the top is to display the time. The handset has 2GB of internal memory is equipped with a 2MP camera, WAP connectivity, Bluetooth (A2DP) and USB 2.0 for data transfer and use as a modem. The price is said to be somewhere in the Rs. 2,20,000 range.

Mobiado – Grand Line – 350PRL
Another big name in the Luxury Mobile game is Mobiado who specialises in making mobile handsets that won’t be available in just any old store. The 350 PRL is placed behind a CNC machined aluminium, clear anodized frame with a sapphire crystal, Ruby infrared display. The signature keypad styling is full QWERTY in this model with Sapphire crystal and stainless steel buttons and screws. The patented battery cover is made of a single large sapphire crystal. If all that doesn’t spell luxury, I don’t know what does.

With regards to technology, the 350PRL features 3.5G connectivity, with Wi-Fi and GPS. It sports a 3.2MP camera, microSD card support, Bluetooth with A2DP + EDR and a USB full speed connector. It’s priced at $2,600.

Gresso iPhone 4 Black Diamond
While the others on this list are focused on creating a mobile phone of their own, Gresso believes in enhancing the value of an existing handset. For example, the biggest handset on the market today is the iPhone 4. As a stand-alone device it has quite a lot to offer users from overall performance and functionality to upgraded features and a heavy price tag. Then along comes Gresso with their fantastically luxurious iPhone 4 Black Diamond caseing that’s priced at a whopping $10,000. Why? Because this one is made of 200-year-old African Blackwood that is as exclusive a material as it is strong and durable. The Apple brand on the rear is made of 18-karat gold and inlaid with black diamond that rarely occurs in nature.

It’s also built with super-hard titanium Black PVD coating that’s applied in vacuum to the steel frame located along the perimeter of the case, emphasizing diamond glitter. Let’s hope this doesn’t affect the reception even more.

Stay tuned for more ultra expensive, ultra luxurious products and stuff as Tech2’s Luxury Week continues.
