Own Bank Account must to get scholarships and tuition fee reimbursement..

Bank account of their parents, relatives and friends invalid to get scholarships and tuition fee reimbursement. More then 9.5 lakh out of 22.79 lakh weaker section students listed as eligible to get scholarships and tuition fee reimbursement for 2009-10 have shown the bank accounts of their parents, relatives and even friends to receive the sanctioned amounts. Government has categorized all these “wrong accounts” as invalid for the purpose of disbursing the financial aid them. Referring to this as yet another reason for the delay in release of scholarships and fee reimbursement.
Government appeal to these students immediately open the accounts in the specified banks in their names to get the amounts. Bank accounts were found to be valid only in case of 13.23 lakh students and most of them were with SBI. “Invalid” accounts existed mostly in SBH, Andhra Bank, Syndicate Bank and Indian Bank.
Government appealed to the managements of institutions to facilitate the process of opening the accounts by these students and submit details to the verification by officer deputed by the department concerned.
