The operator also said that the commercial services will be available from 27 March 2010 in Chennai and in the next fortnight, Videocon GSM services will be launched in key cities across Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Mumbai telecom circle.
Venugopal Dhoot, the Chairman, Videocon Group, while launching its GSM mobile services in Chennai on Thursday told media that as a component of their roll-out strategy, the company launched its gsm mobile services in Tamil Nadu area on Thursday. Likewise, it would also roll-out its gsm mobile services in key cities like Haryana, Kerala, Punjab, Gujrat, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Mumbai and Maharashtra by September end. It is also advocated that Videocon mobile services would be accompanying futuristic 2.75G EDGE GSM network; with State of art Value added services and incredible customer services. Mr. Dhoot promised to offer an unprecedented sub one paisa efficient tariff, which is planned to suit all sectors of society.
He told media that the videocon telecom will create partnerships with global telecom industry front runners with integrated expertise and will create a future-ready communication infrastructure. Nokia Siemens Networks, IBM, Comverse, Cisco, Amdocs, Gemalto, Avaya, Wipro, Huawei and Oracle are the main partners of the company. Videocon mobile services subscribers will be offered a wide range of enhanced voice, data & SMS services. The customer care services will be provided in 15 indian languages with eight centres across the country. Aravind Santhanam, Chief Operating Officer, Tamil Nadu circle, told that Videocon has planned to spend Rs. 15,00 Crore in Tamil Nadu for GSM mobile services and it would create around 20,000 jobs in the circle. The company would comprise a network of 3,400 transreceiver stations to distribute excellent services to the users across 550 towns in Tamil Nadu within the next week.
The Brand Videocon GSM services would begin with a retail presence of over 19,000 outlets and planned to cover over 50,000 outlets within 01 year, offering smooth and satisfactory access to the subscribers
