JNTU Kakinada plans to introduce grading system

JNTU Kakinada plans to introduce the grading system on lines of the universities abroad, and do away with the present absolute percentage structure. The university also plans to drop the multiple evaluation system and introduce the single valuation model to reduce the evaluation time. On the question paper model, the present system of ‘four sets' would continue and the question bank is being updated to make it more competitive and to add variety. The university also proposes to introduce the semester system in the first year for B.Tech courses and implement the concept of self study from the 2010-11 batch. Spelling out a couple of student-centric plans, JNTU-K would take up awareness programmes to develop self confidence among the students and have advised all its affiliated colleges to establish counseling cells with a full-time psychologist to reduce the suicidal tendencies among the students. JNTU Kakinada has more than 180 affiliated colleges under its fold, and it takes some time to implement the changes and new courses in each of the colleges. But as a role model, they will be first implemented at the JNTU-K campus, said the V-C.
